A Rapid City man received a 10 year suspended execution sentence for abusing his estranged wife.
Back in February Robert Rasch pled first degree burglary and aggravated assault charges that stem from a May incident where he hurt his wife by strangling her. Prosecutors say it will take awhile for the victim to recover emotionally.
Rasch's defense attorney says this incident was very out of character for him and it isn't who he is. On Monday, Judge Jeff Davis sentenced him to a 10 year suspended execution sentence.
Rasch will not be able to have contact with his wife, he can't use alcohol or drugs, and he will have mental health counseling. He will also serve 180 days in jail. Rasch will get credit for time served.
