Bryan Brewer, Oglala Sioux Tribe president, says he's still fighting against allowing alcohol on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Last August, members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe election commission counted the final votes, which legalized alcohol on the reservation.
Pine Ridge has been dry for 30 years.
Brewer says the matter is being litigated in the Tribal Court system. He says he plans on asking the council to allow another vote. "There was a lot of problems with the first I feel, and a lot of other people do also," said Brewer. "So I really believe that if we are going to legalize it, we need to do it right and get an accurate vote of the people."
In regards to the legalization of marijuana on the reservation, Brewer say their constitution follows United States federal law. He says he doesn't see anything happening unless the U.S. government legalizes marijuana.
