Road work along a major street in Rapid City is causing congested traffic in the area.
Construction on the railroad crossing at Third and Omaha Streets began Friday. Project managers says they closed traffic at the crossing to ensure the safety of both vehicles and pedestrians.
Traffic has backed-up in the surrounding area, as vehicles are being diverted to alternate roads:
- Eastbound Omaha traffic should use 5th Street, St. Joseph Street, and East Boulevard.
- Westbound Omaha traffic should use East Boulevard, Main Street, and 3rd Street.
- Trucks should use New York Street or 5th Street.
- If you need access to Omaha businesses, use 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Streets.
The project will continue through Monday.
