Box Elder egg hunt tradition continues for 8th year

For the last 8 years, one woman has headed up the Box Elder Easter Egg hunt.

Marty Summers of the Strawberry Patch Daycare has stuffed 8,100 eggs for distribution at this weekend's city hunt.

Summers saw that the Box Elder community was lacking an event so she took it upon herself to drum up donations, purchase candy and eggs, set a location, advertise and organize a city hunt for the children of the community.

This year her house is busier than ever getting set for this weekend's festivities.

Summers enlists the help of the daycare kids by teaching them colors, counting, shapes and community service while giving them a sense of teamwork and community participation.

"The community supports us, they love us, and it's a good thing for the community. The city gives us money and they support us in any way," said Marilyn Ebel, Co-Chairman.
