Old worn out parts and hail damage to the marquee at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center means some costly repairs.
The sign, located on Omaha Street, is 12-years-old.
General manager Brian Maliske said the parts needed to repair it are no longer made.
So, the civic center board voted 4–to–1 to purchase new components to make the digital picture.
The cost is $108,000 and will come from the facility's enterprise funds.
"It's a matter of hiring the firm that gave us the low RFP quote and moving forward," Maliske said.
The work is expected to be completed in the next few months.
