Monday night, an architect who is part of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center expansion and Barnett Arena upgrade project, brought the Rapid City Council up to speed on the preliminary plans.
Donovan Broberg with ARC International said the design team, which includes companies from Kansas City, Minneapolis and Rapid City, is in full swing. He said there are a lot of balls in the air, but with continued public meetings and focus groups, he hopes a preferred concept for a new area will be ready by July.
"This is a very daily grind for us and we're in full swing. In addition to the public meetings we've had a chance to meet with about 10 different focus groups so far," said Broberg.
The next public input meeting is scheduled for April 24th at 6:00 p.m. Goals and preliminary concepts will be discussed.
