Young women from Spearfish High School got a lesson in leadership from female business leaders in the community. More than 25 students attended the 9th annual Zonta Leadership Forum Monday at Black Hills State University.
The one-day event, hosted by several business women, aims to teach high school girls the importance of self-awareness, and goal setting.
Organizers say the advice and tools learned here can lead to lifelong success.
"If the girls walk away with a few pieces they can take with them to help build their confidence, then we've had success," said Leti Lister, with the Zonta Club of Spearfish.
"It really helps building your confidence and knowing your limits and where you can go," said Shelby Konstant, a peer leader and past participant.
Some of the business leaders at the forum included the Northern Hills District Forest Service Ranger and the head recruiter for the South Dakota National Guard.
