Rapid City Police have busy weekend, jump from call-to-call

Rapid City Police had an extra busy weekend full of stabbings, break-ins and drunk drivers.

On Sunday morning, a man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed with a sword.  According to police spokesperson Tarah Heupel, two men forced their way into an apartment on Waterloo Street and pulled a knife on the renter.  The renter then stabbed one of the men in the neck with a sword.  The incident remains under investigation.

Police were called for a suspicious vehicle parked behind Medicap Pharmacy just after midnight Monday morning.  An officer spotted a broken window to the business, and a male subject moving around inside.  The burglar, Cameron Thompson, 25, was arrested. He was caught with his pockets full of pills.
In addition, police made 11 DUI arrests over the weekend. One man was arrested twice for drunk driving in a 12-hour time period.
