Multiple Christian denominations came together Sunday to break ground on a new home. With the help of a number of churches in Rapid City, the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity will be buildings its 91st house.
Local churches are raising funds and providing volunteers to build a home on 5th Street in Rapid City.
Scott Engmann, the executive director of the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, says having so many churches involved in a build is a first. "It's the first time that we've had ten different churches representing eight different denominations partnering together," Engmann. "And together the churches are raising the money and we're actually building the home and serving another family that's hard working and needs that opportunity for home ownership."
The actual construction of the home will begin in a couple of weeks.
