Rapid City has reached an agreement with insurance companies regarding a fire that burned 150 acres two years ago.
The Mallow Fire on Cowboy Hill in March of 2012 was started by a spark from construction equipment.
The city's costs for fighting the fire totaled more than $85,000.
The city had to reimburse more than $34,000 through a mutual aid agreement with the state, so Rapid City was seeking compensation from the contractor who was re-seeding the hillside at the time of the fire.
At Wednesday's Legal and Finance Committee meeting, members approved a tentative settlement for $30,000.
