Rapid City's Harley-Davidson store to expand

KOTA Territory has a big anniversary coming up. In a little more than a year, bikers will be gearing up to celebrate the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Owners of Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City are also prepping for the big anniversary by expanding the super-store.

Al Rieman, store president, says the store will add 35,000 square feet, making the total 90,000 square feet.

He says service technicians need more space and the current building just doesn't have the room needed to show motorcycles. "For years and years we've been on a pretty strong growth increase in the number of units," said Rieman. "We sell 1,400 units a year now, so we need quite a bit of space to carry an inventory to support that level of sales."
Construction is set to begin after the 2014 Rally. Rieman says the goal is to finish in time for the 75th.
