US Senator John Thune addresses concern about railroad service

US Senator John Thune says he has received a lot of complaints about the railroad services in South Dakota. Senator Thune says agricultural shippers tell him there has been a lot of delays and backed up cars.

He says rail transportation is incredibly important to the economy in South Dakota, and the ag industry depends on it.  Senator Thune says he is in touch with both Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Canadian Pacific about the matter.

"It's imperative that they come up with concrete solutions to try to address what has become a growing crisis for a lot our shippers across South Dakota," said Senator Thune.

Senator Thune says he will monitor the steps the railroad companies are taking and work with the Surface Transportation Board.
