FREEMAN, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy was killed when he was accidentally shot by his 9-year-old brother at a home in the southeastern South Dakota city of Freeman.
Hutchinson County State's Attorney Glenn Roth has identified the victim as Sean Hofer. The Associated Press is not releasing the older brother's name because he is a juvenile
Roth says the boys on Tuesday were playing with a revolver when the handgun was accidentally discharged.
The older boy told investigators he and his brother were playing with the handgun when he pulled the trigger, thinking the gun was not loaded.
Roth says the older brother will not be charged.
