Mountain lion season nearing its end, 49 taken


The mountain lion hunting season is nearing its end.  So far, hunters have yet to meet the kill limit of 75. Hunters have taken 49 lions since December 26th.

The majority, 18, were killed in Pennington County.  Sixteen were taken in Lawrence County, 13 in Custer County and only two in Meade County.  Of the 49 killed, 20 were male and 29 were female.
The official end to the lion season is march 31st, or when 75 mountain lions are killed or 50 females.
