Rapid City's housing market holding strong

By Barrett Phillips

For those of you who want to move into a new home, Realtors say now is a great time to buy and sell in Rapid City.

Yanni Georgas, a Realtor at Remax, says Rapid City's housing market is holding strong, although there is an inventory issue in some price ranges and locations in Rapid City, but that's not all bad. He says that opens the door to new construction, allowing builders to provide a product to people that want a home in a certain location and a certain price range.

"As far as buyers wanting to get into the market today it's something I would recommend, because you have homes that are still not overly priced, you have a steady increase with prices over the past few years, and interest rates are still low. So, that kind of makes it a perfect time to buy," says Yanni Georgas.

Georgas says today's strong market allows for buyers and sellers to more easily work together and agree on a price. "Absolutely, our new home was defiantly on the money for everything that we were looking for. There was a lot more to it than we had originally scoped, but it all came within budget and we were very happy," says Zach Routt who recently bought a new home.

Routt says the transition from selling his old home and moving into his new one only took 60 days.
