Employees with the Rushmore Mall and Audra's Bridal teamed up to host their sixth annual Gown Town event Saturday.
This event gives girls the chance to browse the racks for the perfect dress and then take it for free. Drinks, snacks, and even dorm-prizes were given out at the event.
Donna Mitchell, senior account executive, says she usually sees 400 girls try on all types of glamorous prom dresses. Coordinators say the goal is to let girls be excited for prom and not worried about the price.
"We have these gowns, so we have girls come in that are attending proms. What we do is we give these gowns out free of charge to keep the worry off of them and their budget," said Mitchell. "We do as much as we can as far as giving them gowns and hairdos, dry cleaning, everything we can do to make it easier on them and their parents."
