Woman pleads not guilty to killing husband in alleged DUI accident

Posted: Updated:

Prosecutors say a KOTA Territory woman was under the influence of alcohol when she allegedly crashed her car, killing her husband.

Sara Keyte was arraigned on vehicular homicide and DUI charges Friday morning. She pled not guilty.  Her attorney, Paul Branken, asked that her $100,000 bond be reduced.  The state opposed it, saying she has threatened suicide, and is a possible flight risk.  Judge Thomas Trimble did reduce her bond to $20,000.

Keyte's charges stem from an accident that happened February 13, near Johnson Siding.   Troopers told reporters that Keyte lost control of the vehicle, rolling it off of Highway 44.
Her husband, Don Vannorman, was ejected and landed in Rapid Creek. He later died from his injuries.
Keyte was out on bond for a pending drug case when the accident happened.
