The United States imports plenty of products from China. Some South Dakota business owners aim to reverse the roles this coming May.
Justin Durand, general manager of Badger State Recovery in Rapid City, says he plans on expanding his paper business to include China.
This is all part of Governor Dennis Dugaard's 2014 Trade Mission to China. Badger State Recovery is one of 11 South Dakotan businesses chosen to attend a trip to China.
Durand says he is excited to open up new market. "Right now China is one of the largest consumers of fiber products, and working with China comes some of the highest returns for fiber products on our end as well," said Durand. "It's really nice for us to be able to, as a U-S company, be able to go through and sell a product to China."
The trip is from May 9 to May 16. Durand says he hopes to meet with the owners of four Chinese companies while overseas.
