Morning snow showers cause messy roads

After sunny skies and highs in the 60's Monday, residents woke up to a fresh blanket of snow and temperatures in the 30's.

The wet, heavy snow began falling just before 4:00 a.m.  Morning commuters faced slippery conditions from the slushy roads.  Several non-serious accidents were reported.

It began tapering off before 9:00 a.m.  Much of the snow melted from the streets by then, filling the gutters with a muddy slush.

The weather did cause a few schools to start two hours late but the ordeal should be forgotten about by afternoon when the clouds are expected to clear.
