Harsh winter weather has taken it's toll on KOTA Territory roads. Street maintenance crews in Rapid City are out in full force filling in potholes that have emerged.
Work crews were out on Signal Drive and other streets filling in pot holes. Ray Mayes an operator with the street division of the Rapid City Public Works Department, says that he thinks the weather has played a big part in the number of pot holes being reported. "So far it seems to be that Atlas had a lot of moisture in the ground and we've had some constant snow all winter long, where last year I don't think we has as much snowfall," said Mayes.
Mayes says the constant moisture being soaked up into the streets is keeping them busy but the city's Public Works Department is helping out. "They've done a lot of chips sealing roads that we've had a lot of issues with. That should make them hold up better," said Mayes.
