It's easy to find a fast food place or a gas station in Rapid City's north side. But two locally owned businesses are heading south this spring.
By the end of July, a lot off Stumer Road will be home to another McDonald's. This will be the sixth McDonald's in Rapid City.
Wendy Walla, owner, says construction is expected to begin in April and the new location will staff between 60 to 70 people.
She says the location is ideal because of the proximity to Highway 79 and the large crowds that use the new Walmart on that side of town.
"I think the town is growing that way, it's growing south side," said Walla. "There's a lot of development here along Catron Blvd heading towards I90, so I hope that develops in the future."
McDonald's isn't the only business to take advantage of the sprawling south side of town. Big D is building another gas station. Construction is already underway.
