The business landscape is changing in Sturgis. Scott Peterson Motors acquired more than 22 acres of development property off Exit 32.
The new development, which will be called Vanocker Junction, will include 10 acres of frontage for retail opportunities, a dog park and a disc golf course. This is in addition to the 22,000 square foot showroom planned for the new dealership, and a 16 bay service department, including a touchless car wash and quick lube.
While those with Scott Peterson Motors did not anticipate this economic expansion so soon because of the October blizzard, they say it's clear Sturgis is ready for this type of growth.
"It's a huge development that is going to change the business landscape of Sturgis for an entire generation," said Murdoc Jones, of Scott Peterson Motors.
"There there is lots of room for businesses right alongside of us. So I think the opportunity is great and I think it speaks loudly to other business that want to come to Sturgis," said Jim O'Byrne, of Scott Peterson Motors in Sturgis.
Construction is expected to start this spring.
