The Rapid City Central High School theater was full of laughs and a message Tuesday afternoon.
For the third year, "Day of Excellence" organizers invited a guest speaker to talk to high school and middle school students.
Author and television celebrity Josh Shipp used his unique brand of comedy to deliver a very important message to teens about overcoming adversity and striving to be their own personal best.
Shipp has been featured in Inc. Magazine's list of "30 under 30: America's Coolest Young Entrepreneurs".
Although the "Day of Excellence" is typically geared toward adults, Vice President Ericka Heiser said a message about reaching one's potential is a topic equally important to the next generation.
"It's a day to bring youth together to help them hear about different areas of success, attitude and how to make a difference for themselves and really how to be the best version of themselves," said Heiser.
The "Day of Excellence" workshop will take place all day April 2 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theater.
