Rapid City Public Library director: security is important

Posted:

Rapid City Public Library board members and the new library director say they want to continue with the library security.

Tuesday morning, at the Pennington County Commissioners meeting, they updated commissioners on the budget.

Board members and James McShane, the Rapid City Public Library Director, said they want to continue with the security due to the positive reception from the public and staff members. McShane said the security is necessary due to the location of the library.

"Considering that the library is in an urban setting, it's good to have security in their just for emergencies," said McShane.

At the meeting commissioners were formally introduced to McShane, who started his job as library director in December.
