The harsh winter months can be hard on the hotel and restaurant businesses in Rapid City but the State Wrestling Tournament provided a welcomed boost.
The Alex Johnson Hotel in downtown Rapid City was one place wrestling teams and families are staying for the wrestling tournament.
Wade Lampert, general manager of the Alex Johnson Hotel, says tournament participants and spectators provided a much needed surge during this slow winter. "This is a slow time of the year and we're just scrapping by, you know all the hotels are scrapping by and just waiting for the summer season, all these events are just a god send to the hotel industry," said Lampert.
The Firehouse Brewery also has seen quite a few folks in town for the wrestling tournament.
Bob Fuchs, operating partner of the Firehouse says despite the cold the wrestling tournament is bringing people downtown. "The weather isn't doing very well and it's a bit cold out and it's snowing but we're still seeing a lot of people come downtown today" said Fuchs.
