LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A new limestone quarry and fine grind plant in Albany County may be operational by the end of the year.
The Laramie Boomerang reported Friday (http://bit.ly/1pE3EMT ) that incentives have helped build a road to the site, located seven north of Laramie. The mine, being built by Pete Lien and Sons of Rapid City, South Dakota, will sit on 640 acres near the Laramie Range foothills.
The company's environmental and safety manager is Danielle Wiebers. She says the mine should open by Dec. 31 and employ 26 people.
Albany County has used more than $4.5 million in state grants for the road. The Wyoming Business Council contributed $3 million, and the state transportation department allocated nearly $1.9 million.
Albany County owns the new road and leases it to the mine company.
