Earlier this month, Rapid City Police officers were working frantically to find two missing and endangered children. After hours of searching for them and their alleged captor, the two babies were found safe. The man police say is responsible was arrested.
This week, a grand jury indicted Skye Burnham-Endicott, 27, for the crime, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. He is charged with the first degree kidnapping of the two babies and their mother. He is facing an additional 45 years behind bars for three counts of aggravated assault.
It's alleged that Endicott beat up the children's mother, kidnapped her and then fled with the children when she went to get help. The children were missing through the night and by morning an Amber Alert was issued.
Police did find the children and Endicott through a door-to-door search of the apartment complex, Knollwood Heights, where the family was living.
Endicott is in jail, awaiting his arraignment. His bond is set at $500,000.
