A Sheridan theater mainstay is heading to Rapid City.
WYO Theater executive director Nick Johnson will take over the same position at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. His last day in Sheridan is in April, and his duties in Rapid City will begin right after.
Johnson is leaving just before the expansion and renovation work at the WYO Theater will wrap up, but plans on visiting many times in the future.
He says there are a lot of similarities between both venues.
"The WYO Theater is really a community based venue and organization. And I think the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City was really born of a need by the community performing arts organizations, like the Black Hills Community Theatre, and the symphony, and all those others," said Johnson.
Johnson says Tami Davis, who works with the YMCA arts program and other local theater groups will serve as interim executive director at the WYO Theater until a permanent replacement is hired.
