A Pennington County man is facing up to 40 years in prison after allegedly trying to kill his estranged wife.
Robert Rasch pleaded guilty to first degree burglary and aggravated assault charges Tuesday. In a plea deal, charges of attempted first degree murder were dismissed.
Attempted first degree murder and attempted burglary both hold a maximum of 25 years, but because they happened simultaneously, Rasch would not serve time for both.
The charges stem from a May 23rd, 2013 incident where he allegedly hurt is wife by strangling her.
Rasch faces up to 25 years in prison for burglary charges and 15 years for aggravated assault.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 14th.
