House Majority Leader David Lust (R-District 34) has reached his final term limit.
Lust says after nearly a decade in politics, he's ready to take some time to re-charge. Lust jokingly told the crowd at Saturday's Legislative Crackerbarrel that he won't miss hotel rooms or winters in Pierre, but he will truly miss the people he got to meet and the accomplishments he's made.
Lust says at some point, he may get back into public service at some level, but that's all to be determined.
For now, he says it's time for some new blood in the political realm. "More people need to get involved. It's critical to the process or it doesn't work," said Lust. "I'd encourage all watchers and viewers to get engaged and run for office."
Lust says his obligations right now are to his family and his law firm.
