Posted:

A trial date is set for a Hot Springs man facing murder charges in connection with the disappearance of his mother.

The eight day trial will begin July 9th for 28-year-old Matthew Tornquist. He is charged with first-degree murder and an alternative count of second degree murder in the death of 56-year-old Catherine Tornquist in Oct. 2011.

Her body has never been found.

There have been more than 50 organized searches in relation to Tornquist's disappearance.

A hearing to address a possible change of venue is scheduled for mid-March.

If convicted on either murder charge, Tornquist will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
