Those behind the web site, artsrapidcity.org, are looking to expand the site to bring the local art community together.
Art business owners and artists are being called upon to be "content generators" for the site.
The improved web site will give those involved in the art scene of Rapid City a chance to connect with one another. Event postings, open calls, advertisement and networking can all be done in one place.
The site will be free to use. It will be maintained through funding from a $200,000 grant from the Bush Foundation based in Minnesota.
Anna Huntington, director of the site says that this is a good way to bring the art to the whole community of Rapid City. "Artist tend to be focused on doing what they do best which is creating, they're not figuring out how to build a bridge to the community, to engage with that art," said Huntington. "That is what we're hoping to help them with."
The official launch of the new and improved web site will be
in September. But for now Huntington and her associates are trying to spread the word about the site and work out the bugs.
