Pennington Co. rolls $170K into 2014 beetle budget

As the Mountain Pine Beetle fight continues in Pennington County, any money left over from last year's budget will be rolled over into 2014.
Tuesday morning, county commissioner's approved a Mountain Pine Beetle supplement of approximately $170,000. That's how much was left over from the 2013 budget.

Also Tuesday, commissioners announced a third installment of funds from the state for the Mountain Pine Beetle contract totaling more than $260,000.

All together, the total budget for 2014 equals $437,000.
"Basically, it's really accounting, but of course that $437,000 was key to the continuing effort on the Mountain Pine Beetle fight," said chief deputy auditor KJ Peterson.
Efforts to fight the pine beetle include the cut and chunk period, which lasts until Mar. 1, and the chunk and removal period which lasts until June 1.
