Rapid City winery expected to draw tourists downtown

By Barrett Phillips

The owners of Firehouse Brewing Company are in the building stages of the Firehouse Winery.

According to Managing Partner Bob Fuchs, they plan to serve 12 different wines, which includes both red and white varietals. The grapes will come from South Dakota, California, Chile, and Australia.

They plan to open and start serving some wines in mid-March, but it will take until April before they serve all 12. Fuchs said this is the only winery in Rapid City.

"We really feel as though the winery will make a big impact on the tourism business and even bring more people to downtown Rapid City," said Fuchs.

Fuchs said they are adding staff in anticipation of the spring opening.
