The below freezing temperatures didn't keep this year's Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo from having one of its best years ever.
About 322,000 people attended the event. Foot traffic was up four percent from last year.
This was the Stock Show's second best year, despite fewer local attendees.
Brian Maliske, general manager of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, says winter weather set backs are expected. "It's a wonderful boost to our local economy in the middle of January and February when we really in the middle of January and February would not be busy at all for any other reason," said Maliske. "So the coldest part of the year we have out single biggest event."
Maliske says the Sutton Rodeo's events during the frigid middle of the week helped keep the numbers up.
