Rapid City Police Department's K-9 unit will retire working dog Magnum

The Rapid City Police Department's K-9 Unit's dog Magnum will be retiring. Nine year old Magnum has given 7 years of service and is now hanging up his dog collar.

He is trained as a narcotics and patrol dog. And he has assisted officers on a number of apprehensions and drug detections.

Officer Sean Doyle, Magnum's handler, has been working with him for three years and says he is always ready to work. "Magnum happens to be very much happy go luck, but you know he can flip a switch and he just becomes all business when its time," said Officer Doyle.

Magnum's official last day of work is February 25th but he will continue to live with Officer Doyle. Training his replacement will begin in March.
