Rapid City police pursue stolen vehicle on I-90

Thursday night, just before midnight, the Rapid City Police Department responded to 505 N. 5th Street in reference to a stolen vehicle.  A tan 1997 Lincoln Continental was left running in the area to warm up and when the owner returned, the vehicle was pulling away from the parking lot.

Police spotted the vehicle northbound on Interstate 90 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Officers pursued the vehicle west with the help of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.  The Sturgis Police Department deployed a tire deflation device and the vehicle was stopped near Sturgis.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, Angelo Richards, age 19 of Rapid City, was charged with Eluding Law Enforcement, Failing to Report an Accident, Driving without a Driver's License, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and outstanding Warrants.

Friday morning, Detectives added four additional counts of Grand Theft involving stolen vehicles and property from the previous week.

Richards is currently a suspect in several ongoing Grand Theft investigations.
