A proposed transmission line project would cross private, state and federal land in Wyoming and South Dakota. On Wednesday people had the opportunity to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for project.
The public, including landowners, met with those involved in the project today in Newcastle. Black Hills Power officials say a new line is needed and it will benefit people in the area.
The proposed transmission line would connect a substation in Campbell County, Wyoming with one in Weston County, and one in Pennington County, South Dakota.
"The comment period is important because it does allow the public to come forward and really express their interest and concerns and we do take that into heart," said Mark Carda, Transmission and Distribution Engineering Manager at Black Hills Power.
People can submit their comments about the project until February 10th. Comments can be emailed or mailed to Ruth Esperance, District Ranger, Mystic Ranger District, Teckla-Osage-Rapid City Project, 8221 South Highway 16, Rapid City, SD 57702.
