Van Cliburn Medalist comes to Rapid City

It's a historic event - a Van Cliburn Gold Medalist comes to Rapid City. Vadym Kholodenko, from the Ukraine was the winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn International piano Competition in Ft. Worth, Texas. This competition is still considered the most prestigious in the world.

Kholodenko will perform an all romantic program at the Performing Arts Center Thursday, January 30th. He will also mentor gifted local piano students in a master class at the Black Hills Piano Gallery Wednesday, January 29th.

Vadym says that although classical music isn't enjoyed by as many people today, it is still an artform that will always be present.

The biggest prize for Van Cliburn winners is a 3-year set concert schedule. "Your career is set," says Vadym.

For tickets to the Thursday concert, go to the Clock Shop, Black Hills Piano Gallery, or you can maybe find a few at the door. They cost $25.
