Cost of October blizzard in Rapid City higher than predicted

New numbers reveal blizzard costs to be higher than previous counts.

Mayor Sam Kooiker, Rapid City, during his Quarterly Progress Report, said the October blizzard cost rapid city $3.1 million.

That's up from the predicted $2.6 million.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is expected to reimburse the city up to 75%. The state is expected to cover 10% of the bill.
 
According to FEMA's web site, South Dakota has declared a disaster declaration 66 times. Texas has declared the most with 335.
