High winds could create travel problems across SD

Posted:

PIERRE, S.D. – State officials are cautioning travelers that strong, gusty winds could cause difficult travel across South Dakota.

The National Weather Service says dangerously strong winds of 30 to 45 mph, with gusts of 60 to 65 mph at times.

Travelers should be alert to the possibility of reduced visibility and blowing snow, especially after dark and along the Interstate 29 corridor from Dell Rapids to the North Dakota border.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles are asked to use extreme caution.

People who must travel are asked to drive with caution and are encouraged to visit www.safetravelusa.com/sd or dial 511 to check the latest road conditions and any travel advisories.
