2014 mountain lion hunting season continues to lag behind 2013

Posted:

Three more mountain lions were reported killed by hunters in the Black Hills Wednesday, bringing the total number of lions taken this hunting season to 15.

The three adults, each over 100 pounds were killed in Custer and Lawrence counties.

There have been fewer lions killed this season so far than last year.  The season started four weeks ago on December 26.  Nine fewer lions have been harvested this year compared to the same period last year.

The lion season ends March 31st, or when 75 total lions are killed - or 50 females - whichever comes first.
