Wyoming man crashes into train

A Wyoming man is dead after a one car crash in Sheridan County.

43 year-old Daniel Twohy of Wyarno was heading eastbound in his pickup truck on WYO 336 at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday when he approached a double track marked railroad. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the railroad crossing lights and bell were activated as a coal train crossed the highway. Twohy did not brake and hit the side of the 73rd railroad car.

The train did not stop because the engineer was unaware of the collision. But when it eventually stopped it was discovered that the crash caused a partial derailment of the railroad car.

WYO 336 was closed for about two hours after the incident.
