Dangerous temperatures affect Rapid City

Most of the nation is in a deep freeze, and KOTA-Territory residents are also being affected by the arctic outbreak.

Cold and dangerous temperatures caused Rapid City schools to start 2 hours later than normal today. It's so cold that nearly all of Canyon Lake is frozen over. Even the ice rink was closed today.

Only a handful of people braved the elements to venture outside Molly Renboldt, in downtown Rapid City, says. "I'm just hanging out with some friends. I didn't really want to come out in the cold this morning when I felt it, but just hanging out"

Overnight temperatures in the Rapid City area fell to as low as 15 degrees below zero.
