Fewer traffic fatalities on Wyoming highways in 2013

There were fewer traffic fatalities last year on Wyoming's highways.

According to preliminary numbers, Wyoming's 2013 traffic fatality count is down 34 fatalities from 2012. The number of deaths in 2013 is 86, which is the lowest number since 1945.

Sergeant Stephen Townsend, Wyoming Highway Patrol, says it's difficult to target one method that resulted in 2013's fewer fatalities.

The deadliest period Wyoming has seen was in 1981 with a record 261 traffic fatalities reported for the year.
