Rapid City residents brought in the New Year with a bang at Tuesday's fireworks show over Main Street Square.
People gathered on the top level of the Main Street Square parking structure to get the best view of the fireworks. Families and friends bundled up to watch as the sparklers blasted into the air.
The city, the fire department and Destination Rapid City worked together to present this firework show to bring in the new year.
While some young spectators were new to the fireworks show, others like Jacie Stevens have been watching it for years. She was excited. "The fireworks are really pretty," said Stevens.
Andi Waters came with her friend Arizona West to see the fireworks. "Well I wasn't here last year so it's new for me to actually be watching here or whatever, it's pretty good," said Waters.
West says despite the cold she enjoyed the show."Yeah it's really long but it's fun," said West.
There was about 3 miles of ignition wire used to light the shells. And there were over 2,000 individual aerial shells to light.
