With the last weekend for Christmas shopping right around the corner, some families in KOTA Territory will get to pick out gifts for free.
Friday and Saturday the Black Hills Area Salvation Army is giving away gifts that were donated from the Angel Tree Program, this holiday season.
Thanks to the program and other generous individuals, around 900 families, including 12,000 children will be able to open a Christmas present this year, and eat a hot meal.
Special Services Major, Elizabeth Beardsley, says she cannot believe the outpouring of support that the Salvation Army receives during the holiday season and the eleven other months of the year.
"I'm in awe of the generosity of the residents in Rapid City and the surrounding community," said Beardsley. "They are so generous and giving to the Salvation Army."
