Five Northern Hills charitable organizations are the recipients of some holiday cheer.
In Sturgis Wednesday, Northern Hills Federal Credit Union handled out a total of $7000 in donations to charity.
The recipients of the money were voted upon by the general public.
The leading vote getter, the Northern Hills Area Casa Program was given a check for $3000, with $2000 going to the Front Porch Coalition.
Executive Vice president Floyd Rummel III says he glad to help the those who serve so many, "It is wonderful for us to reward these excellent charities in the Northern Hills area. We not only saved our members money but then we can contribute to these very worthwhile charities and it's a real warm feeling especially to be able to do this at this time of the year around the holidays.
The other recipients of the money were crisis intervention shelter service inc with a $1000 check and $500 each to the Autism Society of the Black Hills and Spearfish Community Pantry.
