A visiting professor at Black Hills State University, who is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, will have to surrender his passport.
Wednesday morning prosecutors requested that 33–year–old Tanyamat Srungboonmee's passport be held. Srungboonmee is a native of Thailand.
Judge Michelle Percy granted the request and now the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office will hold on to the passport.
According to court documents, the illegal video files were detected by an investigator during an undercover operation. The videos depict various sex acts with children and adults. The children are between 6 and 11 years old. Police say Srungboonmee admitted that he downloaded the files onto the drive.
According to a news release from Black Hills State University, Srungboonmee has been placed on leave.
