A local hotel known for doing things a little bit differently is giving its employees a very special gift for the holidays.
The Adoba Hotel in Rapid City is doing something unprecedented in the hospitality industry by closing Christmas Eve at 10am until 7am on December 26th to allow employees to spend Christmas with their families.
Adoba Director Of Sales Christi Freeman says that despite the loss in revenue, the brief hiatus is more about creating a good work life balance and rewarding employees for their contributions to the hotel, "Sometimes money isn't the bottom line. Your staff is your money, so when you can do something nice for them and allow them a little freedom, in the busy season they'll return the favor".
In addition to the two day break from work, all the hotel employees were also given Christmas bonuses.
